With his family he fled to Nepal in 1959. In India after years of manual labor he entered the Indian boarding school for refugees. Khenpo earned his Acharya degree in the entire range of Buddhist studies from the Sanskrit University in Varanasi where he studied for 9 years.  After the traditional 3 year, 3 month retreat he received essential transmission from HH the 16th Karmapa, who authorized and enthroned Khenpo and sent him to the West&#8211;where he has taught for 32 years. In 2022 Rinpoche took full ordination under HE Tai Situ Rinpoche and spends most of his days in silent retreat. He is currently the Resident Lama at Triratna Meditation Center in Dallas, Tx.</p>
