Dr. Fred Cooper is returning to offer teachings on The last Three Statements of Garab Dorje, the first Vidyadhara of the Dzogchen Lineage.
Garab Dorje’s Last Three Statements:
1) Introducing directly the face of Rigpa (one’s true nature)
2) One attains certainty about this natural state
3) Confidence directly in the liberation of rising thoughts.
This teaching and transmission by Dr. Fred Cooper will focus on the first statement, according to the Commentary by Patrul Rinpoche as elaborated by VV Mingyur Rinpoche. A good foundation in Shamatha-Vipashana [Shine-Lhatong] is very helpful to benefit from this teaching.
This day of teaching will be held at the Herman Rednick Center, 40 Lorien Road, Questa NM.
Fred Cooper, PhD, is a close disciple of H.E. Kenting Tai Situpa and recipient of direct Mahamudra Transmissions from H.E. T’ai Situpa, H.E. Kalu Rinpoche and V.V. Mingyur Rinpoche. He has taught for over 20 years at Kagyu Centers in the U.S. He has been Program Director for Theoretical Physics at the National Science Foundation and is currently associated with the Santa Fe Institute and Los Alamos National Labs. Fred is the President of KSK Buddhist Center in Santa Fe.
Schedule:
First session 10 am to noon. Break for pot luck lunch at noon. Second session begins at 1 pm and will finish around 3 pm. Fred is on a tight schedule and must leave at 3, so this time he is not available for interview/questions during lunch or at the end of the teaching.
Suggested donation: $15 per session or $25 for the day.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please donate if you are able, as Fred can then receive a Center donation in gratitude for his kindness and efforts to come to Questa to teach. There is also the opportunity to make personal donations at the conclusion of each teaching.
