Dr. Fred Cooper To Teach Nov. 10, 2019

Dr. Fred Cooper is returning to the Herman Rednick Center, 40 Lorien Road in the El Rito neighborhood of Questa, on Sunday, November 10, 2019.

He will give us a teaching on Mahamudra from Tsele Natsok Rangdrol’s book, The Heart of the Matter. The book includes a text on Mahamudra as well as his “Lamp of Mahamudra.” It contains vital point of Buddha’s words and covers definitive meanings of view, meditation, conduct, and fruition.

This teaching is open to all who have taken refuge and have practiced calm abiding and insight meditation. There will be nine copies of the book for sale, for $12/book. Dr. Cooper’s teaching will be a combination of Pith instructions and meditation periods.

SCHEDULE

10 am to noon, first session
Potluck lunch will follow, from noon to 1:30 pm.
1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, second session

Interviews may be possible. Please request upon arrival.

During the lunch break or after the afternoon session there may be time for private interviews. If you are interested, please inquire when you arrive. A sign-up sheet for this will be available at the door.

Suggested donation: $15 for one session or $25 for the day. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Fred Cooper is a close disciple of H.E. Khentin T’ai Situpa, and recipient of direct Mahamudra Transmissions from H.E. T’ai Situpa, H.E. Kalu Rinpoche, and V.V. Mingyur Rinpoche. Fred has been teaching at Kagyu Centers in the U.S. for over 30 years. He has been Program Director for Theoretical Physics at the National Science Foundation and is currently associated with the Santa Fe Institute and Los Alamos National Labs. He is President of KSK Buddhist Center in Santa Fe.

Tsele Natsok Rangdrol was born in 1608 and was recognized as both the reincarnation of Tendzin Dorje and of Gotsanpa, an emanation of Milarepa and great master of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage. Jamyang Khentse Chokyi Lodro and Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche felt that his writings are particularly suited to these times.
