Fred Cooper Offers Mahamudra Gangama Teachings

Earth Journey and Herman Rednick Trust are happy to present Dr. Fred Cooper on Saturday May 30 for a rare teaching on Tilopa’s Pith Instructions on Mahamudra, which is also called Mahamudra Upadesha – the Gangama Instructions, or Mahamudra Gangama. The teaching will occur on the Zoom platform.

Fred and his wife Cathy received these unpublished teachings from Tai Situpa in Bodh Gaya.

These instructions were given to his disciple Naropa, after he completed 12 hardships. Given along the Ganges river, Naropa then transmitted these instructions to Marpa at Pullahari where Marpa translated them from Sanskrit into Tibetan, which translation thus became the seminal Mahamudra teaching of the Kagyu lineage.
This will be the first day of a 3-day teaching; subsequent dates to be determined amongst the attendees. Reading transmission will be given on the first day, therefore that day must be attended if one wishes to plug into the subsequent days of this teaching.   You must have taken refuge and if not completed, at least be doing Ngondro.

Date: Saturday, May 30, 2020  via Zoom
Time: Two sessions: 10 am – noon and 2 – 4 pm.   Space is restricted.

If you wish to join us, please respond to Hilece by Thursday, May 21. She will take your response as permission to subsequently send Fred your email addresses so that he can notify you of the Zoom meeting link as well as get your name for the Zoom “waiting room” to let you in at the time of the teaching.

NOTE: There is now a book on this with commentary by Sangyes Nyenpa Rinpoche (Snow Lion), but Dr. Cooper will be teaching from the instructions he received orally from Tai Situpa.
